Shahabuddin to be shifted to Siwan for speedy trial
Patna, May 6 (UNI) Controversial RJD MP Mohammed Shahabuddin would be shifted to Siwan district jail from Bhagalpur central jail for speedy trial of cases filed against him.
Bihar Chief Secretary G S Kang told UNI here that shifting of Shahabuddin was being done for speedy trial of cases involving him.
He said a special court had also been set up to hear the cases.
After his arrest from his official residence in New Delhi, Mr Shahabuddin was lodged in Bhagalpur jail after District Magistrate of Siwan S K Mall had requested Bihar government not to put the MP behind bars in Siwan for at least six months as it could cause law and order problem.
The six month term expires this midnight, official sources added.
The RJD MP faced charges of kidnapping, murder and extortion, vehicle theft besides, possessing foreign-made firearms, foreign currency and night vision device.
