Samajwadi Party MP should be stripped of membership : BJP
Lucknow, May 6 (UNI) The BJP in Uttar Pradesh today urged the Lok Sabha Speaker Som Nath Chatterjee to strip Mr Beni Prasad Verma, MP from Kaiserganj (Reserved) constituency of the membership of the House for his 'communal' comments.
Mr Beni Prasad Verma, whose son-in-law Rajkumar is the Samajwadi Party candidate in Rae Bareli by-poll against the Congress President Sonia Gandhi, had said he would donate half of his property to the person who would behead Danish cartoonist responsible for caricaturing Prophet Mohammad.
Mr Verma's statement amounts to spreading communal hatred in Uttar Pradesh and that too for the sake of votes, the UP BJP President Kesari Nath Tripathi said here.
''Being a senior politician and member of the Lok sabha, Mr Verma's statement was condemnable and unbecoming of a MP,'' he said.
