BAGHDAD, May 6 (Reuters) Iraq's first full-term government is expected to be formed within days, one of the country's two vice-presidents said today after meeting politicalleaders.

''I expect the announcement will come in the next few days.

To be honest, there are no serious complications,'' Adel Abdul Mahdi told reporters at his Baghdad office.

Prime Minister-designate Nuri al-Maliki must form a government by May 22, or 30 days after he was nominated to lead Iraq for the next four years. Maliki has promised to choose a cabinet in half the time allocated.

Abdul Mahdi said politicians must agree on how to deal with sabotage and daily violence gripping the country.

''What matters before discussing names is for us to reach a shared vision and understanding, so we would be able to build on it and tell the citizens that the coming period will be better than the previous period,'' he said.

In an effort to halt the bloodshed, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani said he had held talks with seven insurgent groups to try to end violence through diplomacy.

Talabani told reporters the groups to whom he spoke were leaning towards disarming and joining the political process.

''They believe that the time has come to end the violence in Iraq,'' he said. ''We welcomed them and said: ''God willing, we will see you soon in the peaceful political process.'' REUTERS SY RN1955
