Govt doctors, teachers will be brought under timescale: Jaya
Chennai, May 6 (UNI) AIADMK General Secretary and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today announced that government doctors and school teachers, who were recruited under consolidated pay, would be brought under time scale if her party was voted back to power.
Winding up her 36-day-long hectic electioneering in the city this evening, she said since the state's economy was in abysmal when she assumed office in 2001, her government had to recruit teachers and doctors under consolidated pay.
She said those who were recruited as Guest Lecturers would also be brought under the time scale if AIADMK government was voted back to power.
As the state's economy was brought back on rails, all posts would be hereafter filled as time scale posts, she assured.
Ms Jayalalithaa said her government had so far not implemented Value Added Tax (VAT) system in Tamil Nadu, as there were no avenues for adequate compensation for the loss to be incurred by the state.
The VAT system would not be implemented in the state until the Centre brought in suitable amendment to remove the problems it might pose to small traders, she added.
Ms Jayalalithaa said the AIADMK Government would vehemently oppose the foreign direct investment in retail trade which would affect small and medium traders.
