FICCI to discuss ''Women Empowering India''

New Delhi, May 6 (UNI) FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) has adopted the theme ''Women Empowering India'' for its two-day 22nd annual session to be held on May 8-9, 2006.

The event will hold different sessions on women in the fields of business, politics and development.

The session on ''Corporate Governance--Will more women at the top lead to betterment'' will be chaired by Minister of State (MoS) for Industry Ashwani Kumar.

Bharti Enterprises Joint Managing Director Rajan Mittal and PHDCCI President Sushma Berlia will also address the session.

Union Minister for Panchayati Raj Mani Shankar Aiyer, MoS for Defence M M Pallam Raju and Centre for Social Research Director Ranjana Kumari will address the second session--Empowerment of Women in Rural India.

The session on Role of Media and Civil Society in changing public attitude towards women will be addressed by MoS for External Affairs Anand Sharma, Congress Spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi and Haryana Minister for Transport and Parliamentary Affairs Randeep Singh Surjewala.

MoS Oscar Fernandes will be the guest of honour for the Annual Session. Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Shukla, will deliver the special address.

FLO aims at fulfilling the mission of empowering women through access to training, exposure to global trends and contact with leaders at the cutting-edge of innovation and transformation, a released issued here today said.
