EC serves notice to Maran on vehicles accompnying him
Chennai, May 6 (UNI) The Election Commission has served notice to Union Communication and Information Technology Minister Dayanidhi Maran, seeking a clarification on the number of vehicles that followed his convoy during his campaigning in Krishnagiri on May 3.
Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta told newspersons here today that the Election Observer, posted to monitor the poll process in Krishnagiri district, noticed the ''violation of the model code of conduct'' when Mr Maran campaigned in and around Krishnagiri on that day.
Based on his report that large number of vehicles, exceeding the permissible limit of vehicles accompanied Mr Maran, the EC had served the notice to Mr Maran, he added.
