Dola, Tarundeep to spearhead Indian challenge in Croatia World Cup

New Delhi, May 6 (UNI) Olympians Tarundeep Rai and Dola Banerjee will spearhead the men and women's challenge respectively, when a 15-member Indian team battles it out in the Meteskan World Cup Archery Championship to be held at Porec, Croatia from May 9-13.

The men's recurve team includes four archers and as many in women's recurve and compound teams. The men's compound team has three archers in it.

SP Jain is the manager of the team which also includes four coaches.

In a statement here today, President of the Archery Association of India Prof Vijay Kumar Malhotra said that the archers were selected after taking into account their performance in the National Ranking Archery Circuit Tournament held at Amritsar from April 28-May 2.

Indian archers will also participate in the next World Cups in Turkey (June 7-10), El Salvador (June 21-25) and China (Sep 26-Oct 1), Mr Malhotra said.

Selection trials for senior men and women team for the second and third World Cups and junior teams for 2nd Asian Circuit Championship in Malaysia would be conducted at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium from May 19-21.

Team: Recurve Men: Jayanta Talukdar, N Ravindhar, Muni Ram Tirkey, Tarun Deep Rai.

Recurve Women: Reena Kumari, Dola Banerjee, Rosie Lalramhlumi, Sushma.

Compound Men: Jyanti Lal Nanoma, Rajwant Singh Sidhu, Palton Hansda.

Compound Women: Jhano Hansdah, Manjudha Soy, Sakro Besra, Radha Bai UNI AY PG VV1714
