Condolence meeting for Mahajan on May nine
Mumbai, May 6 (UNI) A condolence meeting for BJP national general secretary Pramod Mahajan has been organised on May nine at the Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya, Dadar, central Mumbai.
BJP State unit general secretary Vinod Tawde told reporters that the condolence meeting would be held at 1800 hrs and attended by Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, CPM leader Sitaram Yechury among others.
Prior to that, a special state executive meeting of the state unit would be held at the party's office in Dadar.
He said Mr Mahajan's ashes would be immersed in rivers across Maharashtra. At the meeting of the state executive, Mr Advani would hand over urn containing the ashes to officebearers of all the districts. These urns would be kept at every district office for locals to pay their respects. Later,the ashes would be immersed in the major river, of that district, he added.
Meanwhile, on Monday, Mahajan family would immerse the ashes in Godavari river in Nashik. Nashik Mayor Balasaheb Sanap would receive the ashes which would be taken to Godavari river in an open vehicle in a procession. The late leader son Rahul, brother Prakash, BJP leader Gopinath Munde and state unit chief Nitin Gadkari would be present on the occasion, he added.
