CEO restrains opinion and exit polls till 1700hrs of May 8

Chennai, May 6 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Naresh Gupta imposed restrictions on publication and dissemination of results of opinion and exit polls from 1700 hrs today till the end of polling on May 8.

Talking to reporters here he said no result of opinion poll conducted at any time should be published, publicised or disseminated in many manner by any print or electronic media after 1700 hrs today till the closing of poll at 1700 hrs on May eight.

Similarly, the result of any exit polls should also not be published by the media during the period.

The CEO, said any organisation or agency conducting any opinion or exit polls, while publishing the result, should indicate the sample size of the electorate covered and geographic spread of the survey.

''They must invariably give the details of methodology followed, like percentage of errors, the professional background and experience of the organisation or organisations and the key professionals involed in the conduct and analysis of the poll'', he said.
