Srinagar, May 5 (UNI) A top commander of Pakistan based Lashker-e- Toiba (LeT) was among two people killed while security forces busted a hideout and recovered arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said.
He said troops of Rashitriya Rifles (RR) and police launched a joint operation at Zachaldara in the frontier district of Kupwara in the wee hours today.
However, when the troops were about to storm a particular house militants opened fire. The fire was returned and in the fierce clash a LeT commander Tanveer alias Abu Hamza alias Abu Saleem, a resident of Pakistan was killed.
Tanveer, active in north Kashmir was working as a launching commander, responsible for sending Kashmiri youths across the border for receiving arms training.
One AK rifle, two magzines, 54 rounds of ammunition and one wireless set were recovered from the slain militant.
He said militants killed one Shakeel Ahmad at Ramban in Doda district of North Kashmir late last night.
Security forces and police in a joint operation unearthed a hideout and recovered four hand grenades,four magzines of Self Loading Rifle, 300 rounds of ammunition and one binocular at Vas Dhar last night. However, no one was arrested.
