New Delhi, May 5 (UNI) TEN Sports, having exclusive telecast rights for the forthcoming India-West Indies cricket series, has refused to permit Prasar Bharti to download its feed for live telecast on Doordarshan.

M/s Taj TV Pvt. Ltd., owners of TEN Sports, today filed an application in the Supreme Court seeking to restrain Prasar Bharti from downlinking its feed during the Test as well ODI series as it would cause huge loss to the applicant, who has already sold its live telecast rights for India to M/s SET (Sony Entertainment Television) Discovery Pvt. Ltd.(SDP).

A bench comprising Mr Justice Ashok Bhan and Mr Justice Lokeshwar Singh Panta, while listing the matter for hearing on May 9, directed the Solicitor General G E Vahanwati to seek instructions from the government in the matter.

Earlier, during the Indo-Pak cricket series Doordarshan was permitted to telecast the series live.

As per the Supreme Court orders TEN Sports was bound to allow downlinking of its feed of all national and international sports events.

The Sharjah-based TV channel has also challenged the guidelines as arbitrary and illegal.
