Rs 20 lakh looted from Central Bank van

Anand, Gujarat, May 5 (UNI) Four unidentified motorcycle borne armed robbers looted Rs 20 lakh from a Central Bank van in Loteshar Temple area of the city this afternoon.

During the loot the robbers also fired five rounds from their fire arms injuring two persons, one of them seriosuly.

The incident took place when the money was being transferred from Central Bank's main branch to its Gujarat Agriculture University branch, the police said.

Swinging into action, the police have put up blockades at all the entry and exit points to the city and a massive manhunt has been launched to nab the robbers.

Police said the three occupants of the bank van couldn't see the faces of robbers as they all had been wearing helmets.

The seriously injured Narendra Patel, a former local BJP councillor, is in the ICU at Karmasad Hospital.
