Mumbai, May 5 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna expressed grief over the death of veteran music composer Naushad Ali here today.

In his message, the Governor said, ''Naushadji was one of the most gifted music composers of modern India. He had the rare ability to infuse life and beauty into verses and lyrics. Blessed with a deep intuition and the sixth sense of music, Naushad almost reached the level of perfection in each of his compositions.'' He also appreciated the fact that Naushad blended Hindustani classical and light music to create some of the all-time-hit compositions.

Mr Krishna said his death has snapped one of the last surviving links to the golden era of Hindi film music.

He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to members of the bereaved family.
