Naushad great proponent of Indian classical music:CM

Mumbai, May 5 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today described legendry musician Naushad as ''great proponent of Indian classical music'' and added that his six decade journey as musician was ''golden era'' of Indian music.

In an official release, Mr Deshmukh said in 1944 Naushad gave music to first movie Ratan and in 2006 his last film was Taj mahal.

In this journey he gave many memorable songs.

Mr Deshmukh recalled that late Naushad was felicitated at his hands on October 14, 2005 and added that he had personal relations with him.

'Naushad was proponent of Indian music who never compromised with the principles and his memorable songs from various movies inclucing Mughal-e-azam, Mother India, Paakiza'' would be remembered by the people always'', he concluded.
