MCX index closes up 12.45 pts at 2,387.56

Mumbai, May 5 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded a turnover of Rs 3,350.36 crore at the close of trading hour today.

The index closed at Rs 2,387.56 up by 12.45 points (0.52 per cent). The total trades registered were 50,554.

The MCX metal index closed at 2,839.27 up 23.98 points (0.84 per cent), while its agri index was the lone loser and closed at 1,635.50 down 11.95 points (-0.73 per cent). MCX energy index was at 2,687.91 up 25.33 points (0.94 per cent).

The combined MCX bullion registered a turnover of Rs 2,271.60 crore, including various MCX gold Rs 1,503.57 crore and MCX silver Rs 768.03 crore. The total trades recorded for the MCX bullion were 24,699. The open interest for gold was 9,364 kg, while the outstanding position for silver was 2,97,790 kg.

In the metals segment, MCX copper registered a turnover of Rs 442.27 crore with 9,625 trades, while in the energy segment, crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 124.99 crore with open interest of 8,96,400 BBL.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX were as follows - urad registered a turnover of Rs 22.24 crore with 448 trades, chana registered a turnover of Rs 40.49 crore with 1,071 trades, tur recorded a turnover of Rs 14.29 crore with 469 trades, while masur registered a turnover of Rs 11.73 crore with 378 trades.

Meanwhile, potato recorded a turnover of Rs 66.54 crore with 2,836 trades, while mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 21.22 crore with 1,120 trades.

MCX Gold June 06 closed at Rs 10,000 up by Rs 87 (0.87 per cent), while Aug closed at Rs 10,140 up by Rs 78 (0.77 per cent), Oct closed at Rs 10,269 up by Rs 100 (0.97 per cent).

MCX Silver May 06 closed at Rs 20,403 up by Rs 241 (1.18 per cent), July closed at Rs 21,461 up by Rs 261 (1.22 per cent) and Sep closed at Rs 21,898 up by Rs 156 90.71 per cent).
