Lawyers set deadline for High Court bench in Western Orissa
Sambalpur, May 5 (UNI) A meeting of the district Bar Associations of Western Orissa held recently at Bargarh, has decided to resort to agitational path if the government further delayed in establishing the High Court bench before the monsoon session of the Assembly.
The meeting also agreed to stake a common claim for establishment of a high court bench at any place in the region and made it clear that no bar would make any claim in its support individually.
It was decided that the lawyers of Western Orissa would accept the place selected by state government and high court, Bargarh district bar association president Siris Ballav Mishra, who presided over the meeting said.
Out of 35 Bar Associations in Western Orissa, presidents or their representatives of 21 Bar Associations attended the meeting held for the first time in Bargarh. The meeting formed a steering committee to take up the cause seriously and Mr Mishra was nominated as its convener.
The next meeting of the steering committee would be held at Bhawanipatna on May 20 to prepare a joint memorandum to be submitted to the state government, central government, Supreme Court and Orissa high court, Mr Mishra said.
