HC seeks explanation for irregular fuctioning of Rail Tribunal
Patna, May 5 (UNI) Taking strong objection to the irregular working of the Railway Tribunal, Patna High Court today directed the Centre and Railway Ministry to file affidavit by May 18 in this regard.
Hearing a public interest letigition (PIL) petition, a division bench of the court comprising Chief Justice J N Bhatt and Justice S N Hussain ordered the centre to file the affidavit explaining reasons behind the irregular sitting of railway claim tribunal in Patna leading to the large number of pending cases.
Earlier the petitioner informed the court that due to irregular sittings of railway tribunal, more than 10,000 cases were pending.
Counsel of the petitioner Kunti Devi submitted before the court that she had filed a petition in 2000 demanding claims after death of her husband but the case was still pending due to irregular sittings of the tribunal.
