Goa to confer Kala Rathna Awards on aged, experienced artists

Panaji, May 5 (UNI) Goa government has decided to felicitate outstanding Goan artists, above 60 years of age, who have dedicated more than 10 years of service in art and culture, with Kala Rathna Awards on the Statehood Day on May 29 this year.

The award carries Rs 5,000 besides a citation, shawl and a sreefal.

The prospective caididates need to have a proven track record in either of the fields of music, dance, drama, literature, craft, folk arts, painting, photography and films. Those who have already received Kala Sanman and other state cultural awards are not entitled for applying for the awards.

Those selected by a special committee would be invited to receive the awards at a special function to be held at the Kala Academy, according to an official communique here yesterday.
