Bird flu in Myanmar alarms Nagaland
Kohima May 5 : Following the detection of a case of Bird Flu at Mandalaya, a central town of Myanmar, the department of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries under the Union Ministry of Agriculture has cautioned Nagaland to maintain strict vigil over the border areas.
Department of Animal Husbandry in a letter recently by the Union Ministry of Agriculture, informed the Nagaland Chief Secretary about the outbreak of the deadly disease across the international border.
In this connection, the department has asked the state authorities to prevent the movement of all poultry, poultry products and livestock across the border areas adjoining Myanmar.
Nagaland Director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Dr N Meyase has informed that the state has directed all the military, para- military and state police force to be alert to maintain surveillance and supervision along the border.
