Army promotes adveture sports in Manipur
Imphal, May 5 (UNI) Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) organised a two-week-long adventure course at Lamdan.
70 children, including 31 girls, attended the camp.
The closing function of the course was held today which was presided over by Major General E J Kochekan, GOC 57 Mountain Division.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Kochekansaid said, ''We would help young children and make them responsible citizens and participate in nation building.'' Such adventure programmes instill a sense of discipline, national pride and foster symbiotic relationship and social harmony, he added.
The best trainee awards were given to N Ibomcha (boys) and K Indira (girls). The general also planted a sapling and emphasized on the need of afforestation of the area.
During the two-week camp organised by the MMTA, the trainees were imparted training on map reading, night survival, rock climbing etc.
