AP govt sanctions Rs 300 cr for development of sugar factories
Chittoor, May 5 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Sugar and Tourism minister J Geeta Reddy today said the government has sanctioned Rs 300 crore for the development of sugar factories in the state.
Talking to reporters here, she said a special package was ready for the development of two sugar factories in this district.
Stating that Chittoor and Gajulamandyam sugar factories near Tirupati stood first and second place respectively during this sugarcane crushing season, she said Rs 18 crore would be released for the development of the factories in the next three months.
The minister said after Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy took steps to revive all the sick cooperative factories, they were now running in profit and achieved a high recovery of 10 per cent.
The government would allocate Rs 194 crore towards working capital for nine cooperative sugar factories in the state, she added.
