Bangalore, May 5 (UNI) Eight people, including three women, were killed and eight injured in separate roads mishaps in Karnataka today.
Five pedestrians, including three women, died and eight were injured when a speeding truck overturned near Tarikere town in Chikmagalur district.
Police said the mishap occurred when the truck crashed on the victims, all farm labourers, because of a jaggery-laden lorry ramming into it from behind.
The injured were admitted to Tarikere and Shimoga General Hospitals.
In the other mishap, three persons were killed on the spot when the motorbike on which they were riding was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Suggenahalli in K R Nagara taluk in Mysore district.
Police said the mishap occurred when the trio were proceeding to Dharmasthala.
The victims were identified as Nagaraj, Nataraju and and Ramesh.
The bodies were handed over to the relatives after post mortem at the K R Nagara government hospital. Former Minister H Viswanath visited the hospital and consoled the family members.
