Bangalore, May 5 (UNI) Five pedestrians, including three women, were crushed to death and eight injured when a speeding truck fell on them under the impact of a jaggery laden-lorry ramming into it from the rear on the outskirts of Tarikere town in Chikmagalur district of Karnataka today.
Police said the mishap occurred when the victims, all farm labourers, were walking along the Bangalore-Honnavar National highway to their workplace.
The victims were identified as Kamalamma (40), Rudramma (40), Annapurna (35), Narayana (35) and Thimma Bhovi (58).
The injured were admitted to Tarikere and Shimoga General Hospitals.
