16 killed, 14 injured in three road accidents in AP

Hyderabad, May 5 (UNI) Sixteen people were killed and 14 injured in three separate road accidents in Andhra Pradesh overnight.

Five labourers were killed and four injured when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling collided with a private bus near Madurapudi airport late last night.

According to Circle Inspector Manohar Rao, the autorishaw was on its way to Patharamavaram while the bus was proceeding to Rajahmundry from Korukonda. The bus driver is at large, he said.

The injured were admitted to the Government Hospital.

In Nellore district, six people died on the spot and four sustained injuries when a private bus hit a stationary autorickshaw near Chavali on the Nayudupeta-Tirupati state highway today.

The injured were admitted to private hospitals in Tirupati and Chennai.

In Kurnool district, five people were killed and four injured when a van dashed against a private bus near Allagadda. The injured were admitted to a local hospital, police said.
