Tata's total vehicle sales up by 51 per cent

Kolkata, May 4 (UNI) Leading vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors has recorded a total sale of 36,082 vehicles during April this year registering a growth of 51 per cent from the corresponding period of last year, company sources here today said.

They said the sales of commercial vehicles during last month in the domestic market were recorded at 19,182 units recording a growth of staggering 129 per cent from the corresponding period of last year.

Claiminig that the growth in April this year in automotive sector came despite un-anticipated difficulties in certification and procurement of some critical parts,the sources said adding the cmpany's M&HCV sales were also recorded at 11,625 units with a growth of 121.5 per cent in just one year.

The sales of LCV were also recorded at 7,557 numbers,recording an increase of 142.2 per cent over April 2005.

Similarly,the passenger vehicle business also reported a total sale of 13,328 vehicles in the domestic market last month with an increase of 4.7 per cent over the corresponding period of last year.

Of them while Indica sold 8,493 units,the entire Indigo branded cars registered sales of 2,587 units despite some set backs due to employees strike.

The company's sales from exports were 3,572 vehicles in April as compared to 2,785 vehicles in April last year,registering a sales growth of 28.3 per cent.
