Supreme Court stays HC order to demolish shrines
New Delhi, May 4: The Supreme Court today stayed a Gujarat High Court order directing municipal corporations to demolish shrines obstructing roads.
A bench comprising Justice Ms Ruma Pal and Justice Dalveer Bhandari stayed the May 2 order after an appeal was filed and brought to notice by Additional Solicitor-General Gopal Subramaniam.
The High Court had ordered the demolitions after taking suo moto cognizance of a newspaper report on the issue.
