Son of AIADMK candidate injured in attack

Pondicherry, May 4 (UNI) Mr Saravanan, son of AIADMK candidate for Ozhukarai constituency K Natarajan and his driver Elango were injured when they were attacked by a ten-member gang at Arumparthapuram railway gate near here this afternoon.

Both of them were admitted to the government general hospital here.

Hearing the news, Mr Natarajan along with AIADMK volunteers and office bearers resorted to a road blockade at Moolakkulam disrupting traffic for about half an hour. Police intervened and pacified them.

Later, Mr Natarajan lodged a complaint with the police.

A tense situation is prevailing in the Ozhukarai constituency for the last few days following altercation between the supporters of the AIADMK and Congress and an AIADMK worker was attacked yesterday.

Today's attack was also seen as politically motivated.

The relatives and supporters of Elango also put up a separate road blockade which was called off following intervention by the police.
