PM to inaugurate BITS campus before witnessing naval exercises

Panaji, May 4 (UNI) Prime minister Manmohan Singh will formally inaugurate the Zuarinagar campus of the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) before witnessing the spectacular naval exercises off Goa coast from India's lone aircraft carrier INS-Virat during his one-day visit to the island state tomorrow.

The campus, which actually started functioning since August 2004, had now two batches of students numbering 1200 and teachers 200 under eleven streams of enginering courses with professor T.C.Goel its director.

The BITS, considered to an institute of excellence with its headquarters at Pilani in Rajasthan, had its campuses in Goa and Dubai while another one is coming up in Hyderabad.

Tight security arrangements had been made in the state in connection with the Prime Minister's visit in south Goa where both the events would take place.
