Man drinks dog milk to cure pain

Sambalpur, May 04 (UNI) Believe it or not a rickshaw puller has been drinking dog's milk for the last three months to get rid of chest pain.

40-year-old Basu has been regularly sucking milk from a dog after making her a pet.

The dog has also accepted her 'ward' and allows Basu to suck milk along with her litter of pups.

The poor rickshaw puller adopted this novel practice when he was reportedly told by a medicine shop owner that his chest pain could be cured if he started drinking dog's milk.

Basu told visiting reporters that he first tried to milk a dog and drink it but man's best friend did not 'cooperate'. Ultimately, he struck upon the idea of taming a dog and fulfilling his wish.

This happened after the dog gave birth to pups.

Basu claimed that he got relief from the chest pain after that.

When contacted, doctors said there was no harm in drinking dog's milk but ruled out that it had cured Basu of acute chest pain.

''Basu might be getting a psychological relief after sucking milk from the dog,'' said Medicine Specialist Dr Ratan Kumar Mishra of the District Headquarters Hospital.
