Japanese national arrested for smuggling hashish worth Rs 37 lakh

Mumbai, May 4 (UNI) The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the customs today arrested a Japanese national from Sahar international airport here after they seized 'hashish' worth over Rs 37 lakh in the international market from his bag.

AIU sources said, acting on a tip-off, the officers intercepted Nakashima Tsuyoshi (22) who was to depart to Milan by a Swiss Airlines.

On conducting a search, they recovered 7.5 kg hashish which was concealed in a trolly bag, sources said.

He admitted to the possession, carriage and concealment of narcotics on interrogation. He has been arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
