Govt to revamp education system in Mizoram

Aizawl, May 04 (UNI) The Mizoram government is currently making an all out efforts to revamp the education system in the state.

In its effort to have a quality education system, the state government has included peoples' representatives from local governments and village councils across the state for whom a compherensive one-week training programme was organised here today.

Speaking at the Sarva Shiksha Abhyan training programme at Hrangbana college, education minister R.Lalthangliana impressed on the village council presidents the important role they can play towards having quality education system in their respective region.

The minister also said not only were they important as members of the village education committee, but also important towards the literacy drive as there are still many children, who were not attending schools.

Mr Lalthangliana promised the participants of the training that the impression gathered by the village education committees in regard to teachers and the teaching system would be given top priority by the government and that any ideas and suggestions brought forth by the representatives would be followed up.

The minister also informed the representatives that the mid-day meals scheme would be implemented in all primary schools across the state.
