CRPF to be trained specifically to counter insurgency
Bokaro, May 4 (UNI) Director General of Central Reserve Police Force Jyoti Kumar Sinha today said ''a plan is under active consideration to assign special training to CRPF personnel to combat insurgency activities more effectively.'' ''As per the strategic plan, seven companies of CRPF would get a training company each,'' he added.
Talking to reporters at a press conference here on the occasion of CRPF's foundation day, Mr Sinha said ''only 12 per cent of the total CRPF force deployed in Jharkhand had been trained to fight insurgency and hoped that the position would improve in the future.'' Jharkhand DGP V D Ram said emphasis was being given to better police-CRPF co-ordination.
Referring to attack on government property by naxalites, Mr Ram ''apprehension that the ultras were ahead of law enforcing agencies, were baseless.
He said that security forces were putting pressure on the insurgents, forcing them to change their tactics as well as hideouts.
