City court sentences two to life for murder

New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) A city court today sentenced two brothers to life imprisonment for brutally killing a 30-year-old man in Badarpur area in South Delhi four years ago.

Patiala House Court Additional Sessions Judge Indermit Kaur Kochchar held Mahavir and Jayavir guilty of murdering Chhabi Ram.

The court further slapped a fine of Rs 5000 on each of them.

On July 20, 2002, they brutally attacked Chabbi Ram with iron rods following an altercation that took place regarding supply of gas cylinders. The deceased and the victims used to supply the gas cylinders to various private users.

The police recovered two iron rods from Mahavir and a blood-stained cloth from Jayavir, according to the prosecution.

Both of them were convicted under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 34 (common intention to commit a crime) of the IPC.
