Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, May 4 (UNI) AIADMK General Secretary and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today announced that her Government, if voted back to power, would set up Medical colleges in all district headquarters in the state.
Kickstarting the second day of the last leg of electioneering in Chennai city and the neighbouring district of Thiruvallur, she said the colleges would be set up step-by-step in district headquarters where no medical institutes existed at present.
She announced that two new dental colleges and 22 engineering colleges would also be set up in the State.
Further, IT parks would be established in Tier-II cities to provide employment to youth, she added.
Making a fervent appeal to the people not to believe the 'false poll promises' of the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance, Ms Jayalalithaa said she had come to know through reliable sources that the UPA Government at the Centre, in which the DMK was a constituent, was planning to hike the fuel price after the elections.
'The Centre has put on hold the proposed hike of petrol, diesel and LPG prices in view of the elections in five states,' she said.
Though the UPA Government had raised fuel price five times in two years, AIADMK Government had not hiked bus fare even once, she said.
