Pranab mourns death of Mahajan

New Delhi, May 3 (UNI) Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee has expressed deep shock and sorrow at ''the unfortunate and untimely demise'' of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan in Mumbai earlier in the day.

In a condolence message, Mr Mukherjee said the country had lost ''a charismatic leader'' who had exceptional organisational skills and an uncanny understanding of the problems faced by the country.

Describing Mahajan as a youth icon, the Defence minister said his tenures as Union Minister for Communications, Information Technology, Information&Broadcasting and Defence will be long remembered.
