Poll petition against Punjab CM adjourned to May 10
Chandigarh, May 3 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today adjourned to May 10 the hearing on the petition preferred against the return of the Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh from Patiala Town constituency in 2002 general elections to the state assembly. Justice Satish Kumar Mittal posted the hearing for this date after the counsel for the chief minister submitted that he could not proceed further in the matter as someone has by mistake taken away the brief pertaining to his case from the court room. Capt Singh's return to the state assembly has been challenged by Shiromani Akali Dal activist Harkirat Singh alleging resort to corrupt practices by the victorious candidate, including taking assistance from the government officer.
Among others, the name of Bharat Inder Singh Chahal at present media advisor to the chief minister, who was then a senior officer in the state public relations department, has been cited.
