Pall of gloom in Nagpur following Pramod Mahajan's demise

Nagpur, May 3 (UNI) A pall of gloom descended over the city after learning about the death of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Pramod Mahajan.

BJP activists began gathering at the party city unit office at Mahal and the Vidarbha unit office at Dhantoli as news of his deteriorating condition was flashed on television.

The anxious activists remained glued to the television set even as the leaders tried to get the latest on Mahajan's health over the telephone. A hush fell upon learning about his death and the party flag was brought at half-mast as a mark of respect. A condolence meeting was later held at the Vidarbha unit office.

The Pulliwars, Pravin Mahajan's in-laws, are in Mumbai, and their house here is locked. Pravin is married to Sarangi Pulliwar from Nagpur. Incidentally, it was Pramod Mahajan who had found the match for his younger brother Pravin.
