More snow and rain in high areas of HP

Shimla, May 3 (UNI) The higher altitude areas of Chamba and Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh experienced another spell of mild to moderate snowfall for the second day today, while the lower areas of the districts were lashed by rain.

The higher mountain peaks of Kullu districts and higher reaches of Bharmaour area of Chamba district received another spell of intermittent snow during the day.

The 13,50 foot high Rohtang Pass also experienced another spell of snow, hampering the snow-clearing work on the Manali-Leh Road and other higher reaches of Kullu district, and official sources said the lower areas of the district were lashed by intermittent rain, which started at about 1330 hrs.

Shimla and its adjoining areas were also lashed by heavy downpour in the afternoon, while recording 9.8 degrees of rain during the last 24 hrs, plummeting the day temperature by two degree Celsius.

The state capital today recorded a high of 22.8 degrees today as against 24.8 degrees recorded yesterday.

However, bright sunshine greeted the lower areas of state where the day temperatures were soaring with Una town recording a high of over 30 degrees.

The minimum temperature recorded at Sundernagar was 16.3 degrees, followed by 13.7 at Bhuntar, 11.4 at Shimla and 5.5 degrees at Kalpa in Kinnuar district.
