K'taka Govt not under influence of any lobby, says DyCM
Bangalore, May 3 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today declared that the ruling JD (S)-BJP coalition in the state was not under the influence of any lobby and would not tolerate any kind of interference.
Addressing senior officers of the Excise Department here, he exhorted them to ensure that sincere efforts were made to plug loopholes and stop pilferages in revenue collection. The enforcement and inspection wing of the Department should rise to the occasion and work effectively to put an end to all sorts of malpractices, he added.
Expressing happiness over the revenue collection going up year after year, he said it was a positive development. The collection had touched Rs 3393.45 crore in 2005-06 as against Rs 2831.34 crore registered during the corresponding period the previous year. A target of Rs 4,060 crore had been set for the next year, he disclosed.
Mr Yediyurappa urged the officials to put an end to the menace of sale of non-duty paid liquors.
