Jung misses final round in 50m Free Pistol at World Cup Shooting

New Delhi, May 3 (UNI) Continuing with his poor form after reaching a high in the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, star marksman Samresh Jung failed to figure in the final round and finished a disappointing 21st in 50m Free pistol event in the World Cup at Resende in Brazil.

Jung just managed to score 549 (89, 88, 92, 92, 92, 96) in the preliminaries to fall outside the eight-men final round, according to information received here today.

Among other Indians in the fray, Vivek Singh finished 35th with a score of 542 (90, 94, 94, 87, 87, 90) while B Biji ended at 41st with a total of 534 (86, 90, 93, 93, 89, 83).

The gold in the event was won by Mikhail Nestruev of Russia with a score of 668.7 (573+95.7), while compatriot Vladimir Isakov shot 667.9 (569+98.9) to win the silver.

Tanyu Kiriakov of Bulgaria won the bronze with a score of 663 (567+96).
