Hinduja Hospital condoles Mahajan's death

Mumbai, May 3 (UNI) Following is the text of P D Hinduja Hospital read out by hospital's Chief Executive Officer Pramod Lele after the death of BJP leader Pramod Mahajan this evening.

''It is with deep regret that we announce the untimely death of Pramodji,'' Dr Lele read out to the large gathering outside the hospital.

After battling hard for the last 12 days, he finally succumbed to the bullet injuries suffered by him, the statement said.

''We at the Hinduja hospital tried our level best to save him and all our team of surgeons, intensivists and anaesthetists, headed by Dr G B Daver and also international surgeons and intensitivists together with out OT and ICU staff and other staff members worked round-the-clock, but unfortunately Pramodji passed away this afternoon at 1610 hrs,'' he said.

''We are aware that a large number of Pramodji's supporters and well wishers prayed for his early recovery and survival, but God willed otherwise. On behalf of Trusteees, Doctors and staff members of Hinduja Hospital, we place on record our heartfelt condolences to the family and relatives of Pramodji. May God give them the courage to withstand this loss,'' Mr Lele observed.

''We would also like to place on record the cooperation received by us from members of Pramodji's family, mediapersons and police personnel and BJP party workers,'' the statement added.
