HC notices to Red Fort shoot-out accused

New Delhi, May 3 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today issued notices to three accused in the Red Fort shoot-out case.

Delhi police had moved the court against the order of a trial court acquitting the three accused -- Sadaqat Ali, Babar Mohsin and Rahmana -- from charges of conspiracy with prime accused Ashfaq.

Counsel Ayub Khan, appearing for Babar Mohsin, pleaded the court to consider his bail as the prosecution case against him was ''weak.'' The prosecution case relied heavily on a letter written by Ashfaq. But the letter was in Urdu, a language unknown to Babar.

Mr Ayub added that Babar has also served more than seven years of imprisonment and his case for bail must be considered now.

A High Court bench comprising Justice Manmohan Sarin and Justice J M Malik adjourned the hearing till May 22.
