Dacoits rob gold, cash from a house; injure six inmates
Belgaum, May 3 (UNI) A ten-member gang of dacoits has struck at a house at Sundal village in this district and decamped with 60 gms of gold jewellery and Rs 17,000 cash, after injuring six of its inmates.
According to reports received at the police headquarters here, the gang had forced its entry into the house last night and attacked Basawwa (90), Mahadevappa (50), Mahadevi (45), Shankarappa (35), Shantawwa (30) and Neelawwa (30) with lathis and iron rods, before decamping with the booty.
Senior police officials, including Superintendent of Police Hemant Nimbalkar visited the village.
The injured were treated at a government hospital in Gokak.
A report from Hubli said a four-member gang of dacoits waylaid a truck and robbed its driver of Rs 37,000 cash at Belur industrial area on the outskirts of Dharwad early today.
The culprits escaped under the cover of darkness, the police said.
