Coast Guard rescue German passenger from Lakshadweep Island

New Delhi, May 3 (UNI) In an exemplary humanitarian rescue act, the Coast Guard successfully evacuated a German national from a Bahaman vessel in the Arabian Sea after he had suffered a brain stroke.

A Coast Guard Dornier evacuated MV Hausdorf Michel who had suffered a brain stroke onboard MV Europa, a Bahamas registered vessel, while transiting from Kochi to Mumbai via Agatti Island in the Lakshadweep Islands chain yesterday, a Coast Guard spokesman said here today.

The passenger was reported to be bleeding profusely. On receipt of information by the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MB), an ICG Dornier aircraft was launched from Kochi at 1635 hrs to airlift the patient from Agatti Island.

The German national was brought to Kochi for immediate medical treatment and thereby prompt and appropriate action by the Coast Guard saved a precious human life.
