Change in spelling of Bihar community

New Delhi, May 3 : The Cabinet today approved introduction of a Bill in parliament that would rectify the spelling of 'Lohar' community in Bihar as 'Lohara'.

An official spokesperson, briefing reporters on the Cabinet meeting presided over by the Prime Minister, said the spelling of the 'Lohar' community, as spelt in the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Order (Amendment) Act, 1976 was erroneous.

With the amendment of this Act, the correct Hindi spelling -- Lohara--would be notified, the spoksperson pointed out.
