Chennai, May 3 (UNI) The All India Federation of Lottery Trade and Allied Industries (AIFLTAI) will support the DMK-led DPA in the May eight elections to the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
Announcing this at a crowded press conference here today, Federation President Usman Fayaz said about 25 lakh families in the state were depending on the lottery trade. But from the day the AIADMK government banned it in the state three years ago were struggling for their livelihood, he said.
Mr Fayaz said as they could not meet Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa despite numerous efforts to represent their plight following the lottery trade ban, the Federation had no other alternative but to support the DMK-led DPA in the elections.
He said the members of the Federation had recently met DMK President M Karunanidhi and informed their decision to support the DMK-led DPA.
Mr Usman said as they were happy with Mr Karunanidhi's promises and the DPA manifesto, the Federation had decided to support the DMK-led DPA.
Replying to a question, he said the Federation would give instructions to all the voters relating to the lottery trade in every constituency in the state and how to mobilise their support towards DPA-led DMK on the polling day.
