AIADMK will cut a sorry figure akin to BJP in polls: Karat
Tirupur, Tamil Nadu May 3 (UNI) CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat has said the AIADMK will suffer a fate similar to that of the BJP and will find itself rejected and isolated after the May 8 assembly elections to Tamil Nadu.
Addressing a public meeting here last night he said the five-year rule by the AIADMK had spoiled the image of Tamil Nadu as a progressive state and termed the DMK promise to distribute wasteland as a major step towards land reforms, that will provide means of livehood for several lakhs of people.
Mr Karat said some of the promises made in the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of the UPA Government are yet to be fulfilled and added that the Left parties will continue to work for the pro-people measures in the CMP.
The Communists are not against Foreign Direct Investment(FDI) as it helped to increase employment opportunities and improve productivity, he added.
