Woman among six arrested for betting

Mumbai, May 2 (UNI) Six people, including a woman, were arrested on charges of cricket and horse race betting by the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) of Mumbai Police at Bharat Nagar, Worli, on April 29.

Acting on a tip-off that some people were engaged in betting, the CIU raided the area and seized cash, computer, laptop, CDs, mobile phones and other material worth Rs 2.7 lakh from them, senior Police Inspector Dilip Patil said.

The police have also recovered some documents pertaining to betting in the ongoing South Africa Vs New Zealand circket test being played at Cape Town, Mr Patil said adding that they were inquiring into it.
