Tyche-NCR Corp to launch NCR POS Solutions

Hyderabad, May 2: The Hyderabad-based Tyche Peripheral Systems Ltd (TPSL), pioneers in India for retail automation transactions, today announced a national tie-up with NCR Corporation, a global leader in store automation solutions.

The agreement with TPS marked the launch of NCR's retail automation offerings, including point-of-sale (POS) solutions and Kiosks, for the Indian retail market. TPS would be responsible for sales and support of NCR retail solutions to Indian retailers. NCR's Management Centre in Mumbai would provide remote support services to customers.

NCR's POS solutions would be targeted at general merchandise and speciality retailers, hospitality industry and the fast growing entertainment industry (multiplexes). Shrihari Bhat, General Manager for NCR's retail solutions division in India and South East Asia, said, 'The fast growing retail market makes it imperative for retailers to automate their transactions with point-of-sale (POS) solutions to increase their competitiveness in the demanding environment. With an estimated growth of about 30-40 per cent in the POS market, NCR believes this is the right time for us to launch POS products in the Indian market.'

'TPS has the necessary insights and experience in the Indian retail market to match our global expertise for retail automation solutions. Our reseller agreement with Tyche, with its extensive marketing and support network in the country, is an important part of the strategy to ensure comprehensive market reach across India'.

Pradeep Chauhan, Managing Director, TPSL, told the media here the company was 'bringing global technology to Indian retailers, offering them best value for their POS investment'.

A large majority of the Indian market consisted of small and medium sized retailers looking to upgrade to the POS solution. Tyche, with a sizable share of this market, would offer NCR's value-priced specialized solutions for emerging markets, including the NCR RealPOS-20 and NCR RealPOS 30 POS terminals - to facilitate this conversion. Simultaneously, Tyche would also offer the high-powered NCR RealPOS 70 to serve retailers that need a more powerful, interactive POS solution for high-volume transactions where speed was critical. Tyche would also offer NCR EasyPoint Kiosk solutions to provide an interactive shopping experience to the Indian consumer.

Pradeep Chauhan said, Indian retailers were facing a high turnover of employees and POS solutions simplified complex transactions, reducing time taken to turn a new employee into an experienced and efficient POS operator. Moreover, NCR products offered various advantages like high degree of lifecycle management, speedier transactions, space-saving and reliablity with security not commonly found with PC solutions.
