Traders bandh against octroi enters second day
Sangli, Maharashtra, May 2 (UNI) Traders from Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad municipal corporation jurisdiction went ahead with the bandh on the second day today demanding the withdrawal of corporation's octroi collection contract given to a private company.
Cloth markets in Ganpati Peth, Sarafy Market, Patel Chowk, Vakhar area, Market yard, Timber area and other places remained shut in support of the bandh call given by Traders Mahasangh, an umbrella body of 50 association of traders.
Mahasangh President Atul Shah said that the agitation would continue until the contract for octroi collection given to a private agency was withdrawn.
Business worth Rs 10 to Rs 15 crore was severely affected in the jurisdiction of the corporation, Shah added No untoward incidents were reported during the agitation, police sources said.
